TITEL CHAIRS OF A HONDA CRX TITEL
deel grote vak The chairs fitted as standard in this Land Rover didn't give that much support to the back. And the lack of sidesupport of these chairs caused that I was sliding from the pillow when taking a short turn. There are several options for other chairs. Finally I have chosen the chairs of a Honda CRX. The seat of this chair is pretty low, so there's no problem putting your legs under the steering wheel. These chairs are easy to obtain from Ebay or something like that and aren't very expensive. At last it's perfect that the back could be turned over to the front, because these chairs are originaly fitted in a hatchback. This is necessary for fueling, more specifics at the photos.

I totally ripped off all the bits of the top of the seatbase. All the parts of the old seats, even the rails and stuff are removed. The new chairs are fitted with their own rails. I finished the top of the seatbase with aluminium chequerplate. In the plate is al small hatch to reach the petrol tank.

And this is how it looks from the other side. Finishing of the battery box isn't ready yet. The genuine battery cover is a bit to wide to fit between the seats, but that's no problem as I allready planned to move the batteries to another place.

The chairs are fitted on those large fence hinges. I drilled a couple of holes in the hinges to fit the chairs. On the other side the hinges are fitted with a couple of M10 bolts onto the panel just behind the seatbox towards the bulkhead. I fitted a small plate on the bottom to spread the forces. It was a bit difficult to reach without removing the petrol tank, but I finally succeeded. When fueling you first had to turn over the back of the chair.

Unfasten the wing nuts and the whole chair can be tilted over backwards. It just slides underneath the steering wheel! I had to bend the part of the rails where the wing nut is. Normally this is under an angle of about 75 degrees with regard to the rest of the rails. Another nut prevents the bolt from dropping when you remove the wing nut.

Open the hatch and refuel!

Meanwhile our daughter got her first driving lesson in the Land Rover :-)
