Because of the great looks I've fitted some aluminium chequerplate wingtops. It's allways useful when climbing onto the car. As the stepladder on the back isn't ready yet, the wingtops are the only way onto the top of the car. The roofrack is still a perfect place to make some nice pictures. And I have experienced that sitting on the wingtop with the window as a back rest, is the perfect place to have lunch in summer :-) (don't forget to close the 'aircoflaps') |

OK, these had to be fitted. Can't be that much work I guess. Finaly I bought a pair of ready-made wingtops. They are proper shaped and even the holes are allready drilled. I was in doubt about poprivetting or screwing, at last I choose poprivets. When it's fitted, they will never be removed and it's just a bit less theft sensitive (I live in Utrecht where everything becomes stolen which is loose or less fixed...)

This is how it looks. Isn't it great?

There is a difference of opnion about the use of silicone sealant or not (read the forums about this). As you can seen I decided to use it. It's all aluminium, so it's not necessary against rusting, but it will rattle less! In the near future I will provide the Land Rover with a lot of soundproofing material. Every little bit helps, so this will do! When you tap on the wingtop this makes less noise as when they weren't fitted before. I hope this will limit the resonance of the tire noise a little bit.

And just a detailed photo of the hinge of the hood. As the hood became a bit higher, the hinges had to be moved more to the side to give the hood a decent lock.
